The Rev. Craig Kuehn, Rector

Dear friends,

At our next annual meeting, February 3rd, 2002, we will receive reports and elect new vestry members and delegates to diocesan convention. The vestry nominating committee is Dennis Youngdahl, Lee Hill, Kathy Fritschi, and June Ebbe. We need three people for three-year terms and one person for a one-year term. I have asked them to also provide a slate of convention delegate candidates. We need five delegates and five alternates. Alternates are often called to step in as delegates. Convention will be in Arcata this year. Proxy ballots are not allowed by diocesan canon law.

According to the canon law of the Episcopal Church, our diocese and our parish by-laws, vestry members must be:
· 16 years of age or older
· a communicant in good standing (regular in attendance and not suspended)
· a member of the parish for at least six months prior to the annual meeting
· stewards of their time, talents, and treasure (pledgers).

Delegates to diocesan convention have the same qualifications as those who are allowed to vote at the annual meeting namely,
· 16 years of age or older,
· communicants on the roles of the parish for at least six months preceding the meeting,
· and have been givers of record for six months preceding the meeting.

In addition I ask all vestry members to be faithful in attending meetings, attend the March organization retreat at Inverness, the goal evaluation retreat in August at the parish, be committed to their spiritual gifts and ministries, work to support the ministries of the parish by being a liaison to a parish committee, work in consensus, actively live out our Baptismal Covenant, and pray for the parish, vestry, and the clergy.

If you believe God is calling you to one of these ministries, then please contact a member of the nominating committee. I hope each of you pray for discernment for those considering this vital ministry of the church.

+ Fr. Craig
